All across various temples in Ayutthaya there are remnants of centuries-old wars and destroyed statues of Buddhas. Back in the mid-18th century Thailand, which was then known as ‘Siam’, was invaded for the second time by the Burmese army. The invaders razed cities and temples, and in doing so, destroyed and beheaded many Buddhas around Thailand.
