New York City is sometimes called ‘The Big Apple.’ Similarily, Bangkok’s nickname is ‘The Big Mango’ since Thailand’s national fruit is the Mangosteen. Why not ‘The Big Mangosteen’? Probably because Mangosteen isn’t as well known as a Mango.
The nickname is fitting though, since it shares a lot of similarities to New York City. It’s incredibly crowded, full of busy business during the day and has an endless partying nightlife at night. On top of that, everywhere you look is covered by a variety of buildings and lights all across the large city.
Also their mangos in Thailand are pretty good too… just a thought.
