Tuk-tuks are the iconic taxi of Thailand (and India as well). These 3-wheels shanty vehicles are a very popular and affordable way to get around Thailand. They’re also super sketchy and you don’t exactly feel safe in them, but it’s definitely an experience.
In smaller regions in Thailand, Tuk-tuks tend to look similar to one another, just like taxi’s in North America do. But in Bangkok, they are an entire sub-culture of vehicle modification. Tuk-tuks are a blank canvas to show off the drivers creativity and individuality. The can have a wide range of mods from very expensive aftermarket wheels, to exhaust pipe designs, and of course, so many LED lights that you feel like you’re riding around in a mobile nightclub.
