Cambie Street is one of the most well-known streets in Vancouver for a variety of reasons, with one of the reasons being that always busy and almost perpetually under construction. This photo is one of my favourite views of Vancouver, with the Downtown skyline and mountains in the background as you approach the Cambie Street Bridge. Add in the litter of signs and bus cables and you have the Vancouver driving experience.

It used to be the shipbuilding hotspot, and now it's this bustling area where history and hipness collide. Surrounded by pristine natural landscapes and expansive ocean views, Point Atkinson Lighthouse has become a beloved landmark, drawing locals and visitors alike to admire its timeless architecture and to soak in the awe-inspiring panoramas that unfold from its vantage point. Whether admired from a distance or explored up close, the Point Atkinson Lighthouse is a beacon of both history and natural beauty, inviting all to appreciate the maritime legacy it represents.

The Lions Gate Bridge is named after a pair of mountain peaks, north of Vancouver. I personally always thought it was named after the pair of concrete Lions at the south entrance of the bridge. The bridge opened in 1938 and is often seen as a symbol of Vancouver. It’s even a national historical site now.

Although the steam clock looks like it’s from the Victorian Era, it actually wasn’t built until 1977 by a Canadian clockmaker by the name of Raymond Saunders. At the time it was believed to be the first or second steam clock ever built. Although it’s best known for being a steam clock, and technically runs on steam, steam is not the primary power of the clock itself. It was deemed unreliable. Because of that, there was a solar-powered electric motor inside the clock designed to be used as backup energy only, except today it powers the clock full time. The only part of the steam clock that is actually still steam, is the steam it blows off and whistles every 15 minutes. But I mean, it looks cool, right?

Time is a very interesting concept. It’s constant, never-ending, can’t be stopped, sped up, or manipulated in anyway. And yet time itself is a man-made concept. Time is something that humans quantified and used, when no other species in the universe, as far as we know, keeps track of time like we do.
