The image is named after Thomas Martin Easterly, who captured the very first known photo of a lightning strike in 1847. Or sometimes I tell myself TME stands for “Thunder Make Electricity”.
With Alberta being essentially one large prairie, we get some pretty decent storms during the hot summer months, and I love to just find a spot to watch the storm go to town. I admit, it’s very scary just standing in the rain next to a metal camera and a metal tripod and I just pray that if lightning were to come down on me, it would hit any of the trees or buildings near me before it actually hit me. Luckily I came out of the storm alive, but very, very wet.
